Way Gone Wednesdays: UPDATE - Elvis Costello & The Roots

Three months ago I blogged an early warning that Elvis was teaming up with America's house band, The Roots. The album, Wise Up Ghost, is out now (still haven't had a full listen so I'll reserve any attempts to review) but here's a clip of them playing the Elvis classic "I Want You" at the Brooklyn Bowl last week. This whole concept still blows my mind. Dig.

Way Gone Wednesdays: Elvis Costello & The Roots

This is happening. Apparently the bespectacled one is teaming up with the baddest house band on the planet. I'm down. Peep the deets here.

Throwback Thursdays: The Roots

The Roots have been at it for 19 years. They've been hip-hops premiere live band, they were the house band in Spike Lee's Bamboozled, they scored monster hits with Erykah Badu ("You Got Me") and Cody Chestnutt ("Seed 2.0") and are now the house band for Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. Some footage surfaced this week of The Roots' first live show ever from 1993. Check out the clips.
