With the rise of 90's hip-hop groups like House of Pain and Cypress Hill came Delinquent Habits. The first single hit pretty hard then they, of course, slid into obscurity. Take a peek at the lead-off track complete with a PSA from the Southwest Voter Registration Education Project. It was 1996.

Real Talk Tuesdays: Comics

In a discussion with a few friends this weekend, I admitted that I had never really gotten into comic books. Of course I had a few lying around as a kid. Random copies of Superman, The Lone Ranger, Archie - but I never collected them or pledged any amount of allegience to one specific hero. In retrospect it seems a bit abnormal. Oh well.

*Note: I always had a stack of Mad Magazines laying around. I spent my allowance money on it every month - but that's satire, not a true comic. Also, the shot below is from the Lone Ranger mini-comic that you got whenever you bought a Lone Ranger action figure. I had a few of these.

Madhouse Mondays: Linsanity

I missed SNL this weekend but managed to catch the opening skit - a send-up of all the nauseating attention being given to New York Knicks recent signee, Jeremy Lin. No knock on Lin, the kids got game - but the league is overexposing him in an effort to draw attention back to a game that was once full of legends....and is now overrun by half-baked college dropouts. Dig.

Fatlip, the slacker clown from The Pharcyde gave us the incredible solo cut, "What's Up Fatlip". Still one of my favs. I usually scoff at any retreatment of the classics, but Breakbot was able to put a tasty spin on it. Dig.
